Sightings Húsavík 2019

From March to November 2019, whales were spotted in 1.443 out of 1.524 tours = 94,69%.
In total, ten different species were spotted: Humpback whales, Blue whales, Sperm whales, Harbour porpoises, White-beaked dolphins, Minke whales, Northern Bottlenose whales, Fin whales, Blue/Fin whale hybrid and Killer whales.

Sightings Hjalteyri 2019

From May to November 2019, whales were spotted in 201 out of 223 tours = 90,13%.
In total, four different species were spotted: Humpback whales, Harbour porpoises, White-beaked dolphins and Minke whales.

Please note: When it comes to calculating the success rate of trips, different companies have different methods, some more credible than others. As a rule of thumb, North Sailing’s crews count trip as “unsuccessful” if nothing bigger than porpoises is seen during the tour. Also if for some reasons conditions to spot the whales are that hard that not every passenger sees the whales we do not count those trips as successful.
