Blue whales, blue whales and more blue whales!
When we left the harbour, we immediately set the course towards the area where we had seen all the large whales during the last couple of days.
After sailing for about 45 minutes, we spotted the blow from a humpback whale and of course we took a few looks at the humpback.
While watching the humpback, we saw a hug spout in the distance which was definitely the spout from a blue whale and as we went there, we realized that this blue whale was actually very nice to watch! It took only very short and shallow dives (never more then 2-3 minutes) and often came up close to our boat – what an impressive sight!
At the end of this fantastic morning trip we came across two very relaxed humpback whales, that were just drifting alongside our boat for a while!
During the afternoon, we also spotted the blue whales during all our tours and on the last tour (at 17:00), we counted at least six blue whales spread over the area! Let’s hope that the biggest animal on earth will stay in our bay for a little while longer! 🙂
