A fantastic trip in the sunset
We had already been successful earlier today with several humpback whales having been spotted on all our tours and some of our boats also saw minke whales and white-beaked dolphins.
In the afternoon, our schooner “Opal” even spotted a blue whale, the biggest animal on earth!
The weather has also been great during the day so we were really looking forward to sail out on our evening trip at 20:00 onboard “Knörrinn”.
We left the harbour, set the course towards the north-western part of the bay and it did not take long until we spotted our first humpback whale. We took some nice looks at this humpback, which was probably feeding close to the surface, as it only took very short and shallow dives.
As we sailed further out, we encountered three more humpback whales and on the way back we also came across a large group of white-beaked dolphins! They approached and followed our boat for a while and some of them even started jumping high into the air with the midnight sun in the background – what a sight!
