Playful Dolphins and a hungry Humpback Whale
When we left the harbour at 10:00 this morning onboard our biggest boat “Garðar”, we set the course north-west, towards an area where we had encountered several humpback whales on our evening trip last night.
Today we obviously had to sail a bit further out to find the humpbacks, and our first sighting was a small group of very playful white-beaked dolphins. They came really close to the boat and were even jumping a few times for us!
As we were watching the dolphins, we spotted a humpback whale going for a dive, not too far away from us, so we left the dolphins and headed for the humpback!
It was a very nice humpback whale, that was never diving for more than one or two minutes, as it was just very busy feeding close to the surface (it came up a few times with a mouth full of food, right next to us!). We also saw at least three more humpback whales in the same area and even though it was a bit further out than yesterday, it was a very successful morning whale watching tour!
