Let's go north!
During the last couple of days (and also today) the main whale activity has been quite far out, in the northern part of the bay, about 9 miles away from Húsavík. That means that we have had to sail for about one hour towards the north, until we arrived in the area where we usually found several humpback whales.
Today was no exception and on both the tour at 10:00 and at 13:30 we were sailing far out into the north – but that paid off! We got some amazing looks at feeding humpback whales, sometimes they were surfacing and lifting their flukes just within metres from our boat!
On some of our tours today we also managed to spot some white-beaked dolphins on the way….a bonus for the long sailing towards the north.
