Is there a better way to spend a summerday?
The Icelandic summer is back! That’s what all of us realized when we went out into Skjálfandi Bay today to look for some whales. The sea was quite calm, it was sunny and unusually warm. Best conditions to spend some time out at sea!
It didn’t take us very long to find the animals. Just in the middle of the bay we encountered a humpback whale. We all got excited when the giant whale suddenly breached in front of us! We spent some time with the humpback whale, then we headed further west. Very close to the fish rock, which is known to be a rich feeding area, we spotted a grey seal and observed it while it was catching some fish right next to the rocks.
On the way back to the harbor we took a small detour further north and encountered a group of white beaked dolphins, that were jumping all around us, approaching the boat and riding on the waves in front of the bow. Is there a better way to spend a summer day?
