Double Tails
The Double Tails package is a combination of the NS-1 Húsavík Original Whale Watching tour and a 2-hour riding tour from local horse farm Saltvík. If the riding is combined with the NS-2 Whales, Puffins & Sails tour, it is called Double Tails and Sails. These tours have proved to be very popular this summer.
Until the 20th century, the Icelandic horse was so valuable to daily life that it was called “the most useful servant.” Today, the horse is mainly used for pleasure riding. Taking a riding tour provides an introduction to these wonderful animals and a different way of seeing the beautiful Icelandic scenery.
You don’t need to know anything about the Icelandic horse to enjoy a riding tour with the staff at Saltvík.
They have horses to suit riders of all abilities, and knowledgeable guides to help you feel comfortable.
Saltvík is located 4 km south of Húsavík and has stunning views over Skjalfandi bay. During the tour, you will ride on good paths through the countryside and along the sea where you can see the birds nesting on the cliffs and you can look out across the bay and see the whale watching and fishing boats at work.
The tours can be arranged through our ticket office. Begin by picking the whale watching tour that suits you, and our staff will then make arrangements with Saltvík to find the best time for your riding excursion.
