The historic building “Hallandi”

Back in 1997, North sailing bought the historical house “Hallandi”, located just off Husavik´s main road, with great views of the harbour and Skjalfandi bay. Last year the company started rebuilding the house and that way, guarantee its presence in the town for years to come.

Due to its great location and quirky looks “Hallandi” has been an essential part of Husavik´s charming centre for almost 100 years. The name “Hallandi” comes from the fact that it is half-built into a hill (see image), and therefore looks like its slightly angled (or leaning). Actually it leans a few degrees forward.

The house has been the home of various different activities. For years it hosted dancing lessons for the people of Husavik, it housed North Sailing´s first office, and still offers a home to the company´s owners.
