Annual autumn trip with students from ‘Borgarholsskoli’
Every year, 13–15 year old students from the local school ‘Borgarholsskoli’, sail with North Sailing on the bay of Skjalfandi. The programme is different year from year, to make sure that each student gets to experience the bay in as many ways as possible. Each programme includes specialised guides, this year an expert on geography and geology.
This autumn the weather has been exceptionally wet, windy and cold and therefore the trip had to be postponed until the 18th October, 3 weeks later than planned, but everyone agreed it was worth the wait.
Two of North Sailing´s boats took the group out, Nattfari and Haukur the schooner, and as a tradition the oldest students got to sail onboard Haukur, help pull up the sails and assist with the navigation of the schooner.
An unexpected bonus appeared when 6 harbour proposes appeared and the students where able to see those shy whales clearly from the boats.
We wish those cheerful students all the best with their studies this winter and look forward to seeing them again next year.
Below are a few pictures taken during the trip.
