An autumn coast culture staff tour
The ordinary work was skipped this day and on a small bus the group ventured north over Tjörnes peninsular, visiting museum of Mánárbakki and then later the national park of Vatnajökull where a new visitors center was visited.
The main goal of the tour was to have fun with friends and co-workers but visiting lighthouses was an important part of the tour and a total of three were visited among them Hraunhafnartangi lighthouse, the northernmost part of Iceland, located on the tundra area of Melrakkaslétta.
Food and drink was also very important during the trip where lunch with cold chicken was eaten at one of the staffmembers summerhouse in the vicinity of Kópasker. Picnic with cured shark and Brennivin was enjoyed in the nature near Hraunhafnartangi and good drinks were served during the whole tour. The evening was then topped when visiting Raufarhöfn's nice Hotel "Norðurljós" (Northernlight) where Erlingur Thoroddsen had prepaired a fantastic fish buffet. He also made a short presentation about an interesting project called the "Arctic henge" where the midnightsun in the northernmost village of Iceland plays a big part.
It was a happy group that returned in Húsavík late in the friday evening after a good coast culture trip.
