North Sailing staff meeting
It is the time of the midnight sun when the whale watching season in Húsavík is finally in full swing and the North Sailing staff members from Húsavík and all over the world gather for the summer season. While we only count 15 staff members in winter this number goes up to almost 100 in summer, counting the team members of our North Sailing whalewatching operations and our restaurants Gamli Baukur and Café Skuld.
Last week there was a staff meeting, attended by almost 50 people.
The meeting was officially opened by our Managing Director Þorsteinn, who presented the latest developments within the company, as well as our plans for the future, looking as far as 2017.
At the second part of the meeting our personnel manager Þórunn presented to the team our latest company‘s mission statement.
“North Sailing is the leader in marine-based tourism in Iceland, operated all year. The main business areas are whale watching, schooner sailing and running a restaurant and a travel agency in North-Iceland.”
North Sailing appreciates its employees as the most important asset of the company. Without its well trained and lively staff North Sailing would not be what it is today.
At this meeting we also officially celebrated the opening of our new staff room, which serves as a meeting room, a room to relax and warm up after our tours, and there is also a computer for our guides to write our whale-watching blog.
Our team consists of experienced captains, motivated guides, professional deckhands and engineers, friendly sales and administration staff in ticket shop and office as well as service minded waiters and chefs and all those many faces that our customers don‘t see, but whose work is important and valuable to our daily operations.
