A whale party
I did three tours today and wow! This day was amazing. Apart from a bit strong wind during the middle of the day, the weather was nice and sunny. But there were so many blue whales and humpback whales that I soon lost track of the number even though I tried hard to count them. Almost everywhere you looked you could see a blow.
On the first tour we saw a blue whale so close to the boat that the people in front could almots touch it. On my second tour we saw two humpback whales that were always coming up side by side, really calm and always staying right next to the boat. One of them was extremly big. In this tour we saw probably five or six humpback whales in the same area as well as many blue whales.
My last tour was the evening trip, the wind was totally calm by then and the evening sun was amazing. We had only been out for 10 minutes when I saw some dolphins jumping. It turned out to be a really large group of white beaked dolphins, jumping and playing around the boat. Then we went further out to look for the bigger whales and found again a lot of blue whales and many humpback whales. One incident I think I'll never forget on this tour: a blue whale came up next to the boat, swam alongside us for a while with the orange-pink midnight sun in the background. At the same time there was a humpback whale a little further away and another blue whale in front of the boat.
A few phrases from my passengers today: "This was truly amazing," "this was so fantastic" and "this was probably the greatest thing I've ever done in my life."
