A spyhopping humpback whale!
Today we had the best luck! We found two lovely humpback whales which were very friendly for the first trip, swimming along calmly and easy to follow. However when we returned on our 13:30 trip one of them became very curious and came very close to the boat.
At one point the whale swam up behind the boat and stayed there, just under the surface, watching our passengers. It watched us for a couple of minutes, spyhopping in between and giving our whale enthusiasts a perfect chance to get a good view. Truly a spectacular whale watching trip!
The following pictures were taken by a researcher from the Whale Museum and kindly lent to North Sailing.
One of my best trips yet!
