Many magnificent blue whales have graced our tours this spring, leaving our passengers in awe! We’ve had the sheer joy of spotting these majestic creatures not just on a few occasions but an incredible 26 tours already this season, and we’re only in mid-May!
Just imagine this: a glorious sunny day, the glistening waters of Skjálfandi Bay, and suddenly, a magnificent blue whale breaks the surface, captivating all who have the privilege of being there.

Skjálfandi Bay: A rare haven for Blue whales!
Nested in the heart of Skjálfandi Bay lies Húsavík, one of the few places on Earth where you can see the biggest animal on Earth regularly! Spotting blue whales in Húsavík isn’t that abnormal, as this natural haven provides an ideal feeding ground for these incredible creatures.
We’re always delighted to welcome the largest animal on Earth in Húsavík, 30 meters of sheer beauty!

This season has also been special in another aspect – blue whales have been very frequently lifting their gigantic flukes before diving! It’s believed that only one out of five blue whales will do so on average!
