Record-day for whale watching
Yesterday was a rather unusual day for North Sailing. Due to bad weather on monday and tuesday this week we unfortunately had to cancel some of our scheduled whale-watching tours. We felt sorry for our guests who had booked their tours for those two day and were so much looking forward to whale watching but could not go. Nevertheless, in Iceland you can always count on the weather to change soon and often and sure enough the sun was shining again yesterday, with only a little wind and few clouds.
Most of our guests from monday and tuesday were still in the Húsavík and Myvatn area and we were able to rebook them on our scheduled as well as on some extra tours, that we were running yesterday. We were even able to hire an extra boat for the convenience of our guests. Our guests could enjoy the whale watching like on any other “normal” day of the year. We spotted whales on every single tour, some of them even lob-tailing and jumping, much to the delight of guests and crew.
We are very proud of our team on sea as well as on land. The good team spirit and their passion for sailing and whale watching are two key factors of our success.
We would like to thank our guests for their understanding and patience during those two rainy and windy days and also our team for their good and hard work.
Now we are preparing for “Mærudagar”- weekend, an annual festival, held in Húsavík. The whole town is getting dressed up in orange, pink and green. If you are in the area come and visit us- you should not miss it.
