A humpback breaching in Skjálfandi bay
The weather today was murky, windy and wet when 78 brave passengers and 5 crew members set out on Náttfari at 13:30. But our bravery was well rewarded when we found a humpback, the second humpback of the trip, breaching in front of the boat. Even when we got closer it kept on breaching (nearly its complete length leaving the water) with short intervals. Sometimes it seemed to get tired, it slowed down and started splashing with its flipper instead or even lobtailing! This went on for quite some time, around 20-30 minutes, and our passengers returned to the harbour ecstatic from the day's findings, albeit a bit worn by the weather.
The images below were taken on today's trip by our second guide Samúel.

The splash from the humpback is quite huge!
