Minke Whales, White Beaked Dolphins and the Great Skua.
We were extremely lucky with weather in our first tours of the day. The wind was not too strong and the sun shining. It seems like the Minke whales and Dolphins have taken over control of the bay. We haven’t seen any big whales for the last few days but these two species seem to have a lot of food. Some of the Minkes are so busy feeding that we can barely keep track but thankfully we have encountered some more easy going types as well. As always, the Dolphins are playful and inquisitive and often come close to the boat. There are plenty of birds and I cannot help but notice that there are many Great Skuas. This has delighted many of our bird-watching tourists since the Great Skua is rare in Europe and can only be found in Iceland, Norway and the Faroe Islands.
