Not the best weather for whale watching
…but we managed all the same!
The weather today started out rather rough, but it did improve a bit over the day. The sea smoothed out at least, but then again it did start raining later.
We found two Minke whales in the morning, feeding close to a large mixed group of birds. Fulmars were the most prolific, but we also saw Puffins, Arctic Terns, and various Gulls.
The two we got a close look at before heading off, but it wasn’t long until we ran into another two Minke whales a bit further away! In the second tour I went out on, we explored a bit further north, where the sea was quite rough, and there we ran into some White Beaked Dolphins, which we got a really close look at! What was rather special today was how often (too often, even) I felt the smell of the Minke whale, which is somewhat like a combination of rotting fish and Icelandic cuisine.
Oh wait.. that might be a tad redundant.
