A great start into the season for “Bjössi Sör”
Today was a wonderful day in Skjálfandi Bay: We had very nice weather conditions, and we managed to watch 4 species of cetaceans today.
On the morning tour we went out onboard “Náttfari” and it didn’t take long until we could watch a very calm minke whale for a while. We got some very nice close-up views and there was even a second minke whale in the same area, but we decided to sail further out and after a while we were rewarded with a humpback whale!
Also the humpback was very friendly and we could observe him (or her?) several times very close to the boat.
In the afternoon we went out again, this time on “Bjössi Sör”, for the first time this year. It was very nice to go out again with this beautiful boat and we also had a very nice tour: After searching for a while, we encountered the humpback whale from the morning tour again, this time a bit further west. We had a nice time with the humpback and we had just left him, when we spotted some black dorsal fins in the distance: a group of white-beaked dolphins! We stayed with the dolphins for a short while before we started to head back towards Húsavík and on the way with even encountered some harbour porpoises.
So all in all a beautiful day and a great start into the season for “Bjössi Sör” :-).
