Humpbacks, minkes and puffins
The perfect whale watching conditions continued also today! Just minutes after we left the harbour we found both humpback and minke whales feeding together in the same area. In total there were three different humpback whales and at least two minke whales present and it was sometimes difficult to decide what to watch, as several whales were surfacing at the same time in different directions. We spent some time with the humpback and minke whales and set the course towards Lundey, the puffin island, where we could watch thousands of puffins as well as other seabirds, before we sailed back to Húsavík.
On the afternoon tour the whales had moved a little bit further west, but in total we found five different humpack whales (one of them tail-slapping a few times) and in an area closer to the mountains, we could also watch two very nice minke whales.
All in all, another very successful whale watching day in Skjálfandi Bay.

The puffins have already arrived in big numbers at Lundey, the puffin island.
