Northern Bottlenose Whales still around

The icelandic summer still continues with excellent weather conditions for whale watching here in Husavik and today we also spotted four different species of whales here in the bay.

In the morning, we found a big number of white-beaked dolphins in the middle of the bay and among them were also a large number of mothers with their calves. Some of the dolphins were also jumping quite close to our boat, which is of course always a spectacular sight. We continued searching for some bigger whales and got news about a humpback whale further north. The whale was diving quite long, but we managed to get very close to the humpback a couple of times, on one occasion he even lifted the fluke right next to our boat. In the same area we also came across some harbour porpoises (one of the smallest whales in the world) and also the Northern Bottlenose Whales (a deep-diving species that is rarely seen here in the bay) were seen on some of our trips today.
