Submission to the Strong Forces of Nature
We do like to go out sailing and watch whales. That’s a fact. However, there are forces so strong that sometimes prevent us from doing so. This morning the waves were churning and there is a lot of fresh snow on the mountain tops. It seems like Old King Winter slowly is awakening from its deep slumber and as usual…not in a good mood.
Today we’re grounded because of bad weather and according to the meteorological institute the weather is also bad tomorrow. It’s annoying because lately we’ve been so lucky but of course this is not something we can control. The Icelandic people know this better than most.
The whales we have encountered in the bay these last days are: Harbour Porpoise, White Beaked Dolphin, Northern Bottlenose Whale, Minke Whale and Humpback Whale.
Having 5 species of whales in the bay at the same time is a luxury and hopefully they will still be there when King Winter gets in a better mood, which according to the weather forecast is tomorrow!
