King Winter takes his Toll
As I wrote yesterday, winter has arrived here up in the North. Not only are there tourists ‘grounded’ in their guesthouses all around the country, but thousands of sheep are lost as well on the Northeast Highlands.
Now is the time of year when sheep are rounded up and herded back to sheep cotes to be sorted by their owners. Unfortunately, since winter arrived rather early (and harshly!) this year, thousands of sheep are still up on the highlands. Rescue Teams from all over North- and East Iceland are out there now, trying to rescue as many sheep as possible, wich in many cases are burried under 2-6 meters layer of snow. It is safe to say that King Winter is taking his toll.
In Húsavík, on the other hand, there is no snow, but still cold and stormy weather and the Grímsey wave buoy tells 6 meters.
The weather foreceast for tomorrow looks a lot better and we cross our fingers for a better weather and calmer sea.
Greetings from the ticket office,
