My first Minke in 2013
Today was my first tour since last summer and it was refreshing sailing out on Bjössi Sör together with captain Hrólfur and close to 30 passengers. The weather conditions were good, slow southerly winds, quite flat sea and the sun was trying it´s best to break through the clouds. The air temperature was not high, probably 1-2 Centigrades below Zero!
We started by searching the area where the BLUE WHALES have been spotted for the last days but didn´t find them. However, we found a beautiful Minke whale on the other side of the bay, close to the mountains. We managed to stay with it for almost half an hour and could get a very good look at it.
On the way back, we really enjoyed the hot Chocolate and cinnamon rolls.
Birds seen: Fulmars, Kitty wakes, Eider ducks, Long tailed ducks, Guillemots, Cormorant and Gannets.
