The Blue Whale is back!!!

Today we went on two trips in beautiful weather conditions. On our morning tour at 10:00 we went out with the crew and the former owners of our new sailing boat “Opal” and they really enjoyed sailing around with us in Skjálfandi Bay.

But the highlight was our afternoon trip! After sailing for about 45 minutes, we spotted a huge blow and a large back in the distance……and as we got closer we realized that it was a BLUE WHALE!!!!

We spent some time with this enormous whale (the biggest animal ever to have lived on earth) and we were also very lucky, because this blue whale almost always lifted its fluke before diving – something that only few blue whales do.

A really impressive sight to see a blue whale lifting its fluke and also very nice to see the biggest animal on the planet back in Skjálfandi Bay!
