The last day in June
Although June was very warm and sunny this year, the weather changed the last few days. The temperatures reminded of the striking distance to the Arctic Circle – it was quite chilly! But our warm overalls protected our passengers from feeling cold.
When we left the harbor, the Víknafjöll-mountains in the west were covered in clouds. But when we headed there, the fog cleared and it was impressive to see the white, snow-covered mountains in great contrast to the dark gray sky!
The sea was rough and in the beginning it was a bit difficult to spot the whales. Nonetheless we were successful: Suddenly we localized a huge blow between the foaming waves. A humpback whale surfaced close to our boat and we spent a wonderful time with this animal, before we sailed back to Húsavík harbor.
Once more, on the way back the hot chocolate and the delicious cinnamon rolls were very welcome to warm up. Our guests were happy and so we were! J
