A quiet bay
Today it was a little quiet in the bay. Sometimes this happens, this being the wild nature we never know where and when the animals will show up.
Humpback and other species of whale migrate to these cold waters to feed, and Humpbacks can eat 1 ton of food a day.
Luckily for us the bay is full of food so we are almost always lucky to find 1 or 2 whales, and we did! After some searching in which almost all passengers engaged we found 2 Humpback whale all the way North in the bay.
The searching for wildlife is part of the fun and an interesting activity when joining a whale watch tour.
Sometimes the passengers find the whales before we do! And there are so many other things to see, from all the sea birds like puffins and the occasional gannet, the beautiful mountains and the vast ocean to the north.
The Humpback whales were coming up in turns so we had time to see both of them dive and come back up for air.
On the way back we had a surprise visit of White-beaked dolphins.
So you see, you never know what and when you will see wildlife, but when you do it is so much fun and rewarding!
See you soon on the water!
