Whales and their characters
Today we had the chance to encounter whales that showed completely different behaviors.
In the morning we spotted three humpback whales – we met all of them yesterday already. They surfaced many times and we got some wonderful looks at them. But when we decided to turn the boat and start heading back to Húsavík, one of them suddenly showed its temper and slapped several times with the mighty tail! What an impressive sight!
In the afternoon we experienced the opposite behavior. Once again we spotted three different humpback whales, but this time one of them was a new one. And this animal was very calm and relaxed! It spent a long time at the surface and didn’t care about us. We observed it floating right under the surface of the sea, very close to our boat. But even this was an unforgettable encounter!
