A humpback in the morning, minkes in the afternoon
The whales are still here in Skjálfandi Bay and today we saw two species: We saw a very nice humpback whale on the morning tour (the same whale that we had also seen yesterday), which was very busy feeding and coming up with the mouth full of food right next to our boat – a very impressive sight!
In the afternoon we found two minke whales, one of them in the middle of the bay, the other one a bit further west, close to the mountains. We got some nice close-up looks at the minke whales and enjoyed a warm cup of hot chocolate on the way back to Húsavík on this cold September day.
