A very unexpected visitor
After the storm a couple of days ago, the weather has calmed down again and today and yesterday we had very successful whale watching trips. On both days we enjoyed the company of three very relaxed humpback whales and what made it even more enjoyable was the fact that on both days we saw two humpback whales swimming together, side by side, right next to the boat.
Also the birdlife in the “off season” can be very interesting and today we had a very special sighting here in the bay: While waiting for one of the humpback whales to come up again, we suddenly saw a Puffin next to the boat!!!
We usually see big numbers of puffins here in the bay during the summer, but it is quite unusual to see them in early November! The puffins look very different in the wintertime, because the colourful horned plates they have during the summer fall off after summer (after the nesting season). But we are pretty sure that the bird we saw today was actually a young individual, probably born during this summer.

The weather forecast looks very good for whale watching during the next days and of course we cross our fingers and fins for some nice tours ;-).
