Sails up!
Wind in Skjálfandi Bay is never predictable, and the Bay can completely transform in no time at all! Our passengers definitely saw this today, as we headed out into sunshine, calm seas and hardly a breeze. These conditions were perfect for whale watching, and the whales were happily coming to the surface, giving us an excelent view of their back, blowholes and fluke as they went down for the dive. Our favorite Humpback whale, Snow White showed off his all-white fluke, much to the liking of our crew and passengers. The wind started picking up just in time for our sail to Húsavík, and our passengers helped us put up the Schooner sail, Main sail and Gib. Haukur is always beautiful with her sails up! As we progressed towards the harbour, rain started to fall and the wind kept picking up and up, forming little white caps and making the trip back a bit less leisurely. Hot chocolate helped keep spirits up, and before we knew it we were back in the harbour.
