Rough weather, but lots to see
Due to large swell and heavy winds, some of the tours were cancelled today. There is something special about wind blowing in your face, and the tops of waves turning white. It is humbling and aweinspiring to witness what the elements are capable of.
For the marine life however, it was business as usual. Skjalfandi Bay was full of life, humpack whales, harbour porpoises, and white beaked dolphins played in the surf. The fulmars were also out in force, catching the updrafts from the waves, and thoroughly enjoying themselves.
The quickening winds signal that summer is coming to a close, and the winter storms are on their way. They are but another stage of the continually changing seasons.
