Snow on the mountains and in the sea ;-)
The last day of August brought us rough weather: the cold storm from the north caused high waves and the tips of the Viknafjöll mountains turned white – yes, we got the first snow of the oncoming autumn! But despite the challenging sailing conditions we’ve been lucky with the whales. We spotted several small harbor porpoises, which was quite special, since we usually see these tiny whales only when the sea is very flat. And we also spotted two humpback whales, one of them was our old friend ‘snow white’, a whale we’re observing in our bay since 2012.
Unfortunately the wind got even stronger in the afternoon, so we had to cancel the following tours. But for the next days the forecast looks promising, so let’s hope September will also be a wonderful month for whale watching!
