Surrounded by humpback whales
On this morning we decided to drive to the same area as the day before, looking for the whales we were lucky enough to encounter then. This decision turned out to be the right one when we found ourselves surrounded by humpback whales again. During our time spent in what seemed like “humpback whale central” we had some very close encounters with some of this creatures. One individual seemed to be playing “hide and seek” with us, when it was constantly diving underneath our boat. It stayed up on the water surface for several minutes before it went for a long deep dive. This gave us the opportunity for some very nice pictures. At some point there were several humpback whales surfacing at the same time, we could barely decide which one to look at first. Watching them coming up everywhere made it difficult to say goodbye in the end of the day, but we enjoyed our smooth, sunny ride back to the harbour.
