Leaping dolphins
We headed out into the bay on a sunny morning on our Schooner Hildur, as ever, very expentant as to what we would find today as every trip is different.
Our passengers, who were of all different nationalities, were very excited when we spotted a large pod of dolphins travelling through the bay. We could see them from quite a distance as they were splashing through the water and as we drew nearer, we could see that several of them were jumping! It was very clear that there were baby dolphins leaping among them, dispite having grown since I saw them last month, they were still distinctively smaller than the adult white beaked dolphing (this species has some of the larger dolphins).
We watched them playing and even riding in the waves under our boat for some time (they can be very playful and as long as we are going fast enough for them, they love swimming next to us). After this we sailed further north and were lucky enough to watch a beautiful humpback whale before heading back to the harbour.
