Rain, rainbows and whales
For the first time in a while, we had some sun and blue skies today! The sea was not too calm, but not too rough either, and Hildur was lucky enough to have some great whale sightings. A pair of “jam-relaxed” humpback whales paid us a visit in the west of the Bay this morning, andour passengers were treated with a great view of the whale’s face and blowholes.
The second tour of the day was promising as well, starting with a nice visit to puffin island and a beautiful rainbow accross the Bay, always a good omen. And indeed it was! In the West of the Bay we were lucky enough to see a humpback breach twice, and then give us a wave with its giant white flipper, looked like he was happy to see us! After that, humpbacks seemed to be on every side of us, and it was hard to choose which one to watch. Of course, the show had to end eventually, and happy passengers and crew got to enjoy some tasty hot chocolate (with maybe some “Captain’s Priviledge”) and cinnamon rolls for the way back to Húsavik.
