Several species spotted from Haukur
There was a great atmosphere onboard schooner Haukur as we set out into the bay, the guests were excited and the crew were looking forward to seeing what this new day would bring. As we were travelling across the bay, one of our youngest passengers noticed a great deal of splashing happening ahead of us in the water. Getting closer, we realised we had come across a pod of white beaked dolphins playfully jumping about. We were particularly lucky today as we noticed several baby dolphins learning to jump too, they looked like they were having so much fun!
We left the dolphins in search of something bigger and were in luck in the west side of the bay, when we saw two different humpbacks. They were moving quickly though the water which made it seem as though they could have been feeding, but we got some fantastic views of them, not too far from the boat. We returned to harbour enjoying celebratory cinamon buns and hot chocolate (with the Captain’s Privilege of course) and chatting about the amazing sights we had seen that day.
