Whalewatching in Skjalfándi
The weather is fair. A little fog in the bay creates a mysterious atmosphere. As we sail to Lundey (puffin Island) we are surrounded by quite some birdlife. Arctic terns, kittiwakes, and some guillemots. At the island the puffins are going wild. Lots of them in the air today. We also spotted 2 skua’s, probably after the puffins fish or sometimes even their eggs. Later during the day, one of the things we spotted was a sleeping humpback whale, very still on the surface, hardly diving at all so we could get a great look at him and come quite close. On the way back we were surprised by a pod of dolphins who came to have a look at us, always a great thing to see!
