Four species and calm seas
Today was a beautiful, warm, calm day with exceptional clarity, all a perfect recipe for a fantastic whale watching day, and so it was! After our usual trip to Lundey we headed out to find something bigger. Hardly after leaving the island we came across a small group of White beaked dolphins that swam slowly by, sometimes quite close to the boat. As we started heading towards the mountains we also saw a couple of Minke whales, which came unusually close to us. Of course, the Humpback whales wanted some attention too, and a couple of them paid us a visit during their busy feeding time. As if all of that weren’t enough, we passed a couple of Harbour porpoises on our way back to harbour. All the amazing whale activity was coupled with perfect weather, making it a pretty fantastic day!
