Sunny day and hungry whales
Sunny day and easy sailing today on Hildur. The morning started out beautiful, and our first stop at puffin island was all it is meant to be. The puffins flapped and dived all around and showed off their bright orange beaks and feet. Of course, though the puffins are always adorable, we had to head off to search for something bigger. The whales seemed to be too busy to show themselves at first, but right when we had all but given up hope we spotted three species at once! In just a moment, we were surrounded by White beaked dolphins, Minke whales and Humpback whales! We almost didn’t know where to look! The dolphins had seemed to pop up out of nowhere, and one came right under the boat. As for the minkes, they were shy as always, but the humpback made up for it. One got very close to us, letting us see its long white “wings” under the water, as well as its fluke when it went down for a deeper dive. Though the show was incredible, the tour had to come to an end, and we slowly made our way back to harbour. Nevertheless, everyone had a smile on their face when we got back to land!
