Feeding frenzy close to Húsavík
We have had really amazing whale watching conditions here in Skjálfandi Bay during the last couple of days and on every tour several humpback whales and minke whales have been seen.
Today was no exception: It just took us about 15-20 minutes of sailing until we could spot the first blows from the humpback whales and as we got closer, we found ourselves in the middle of a big feeding frenzy. At least 4 humpback whales and 2 minke whales were feeding among hundreds of seabirds (mainly arctic terns and kittiwakes).
Especially the humpback whales were amazing to watch as they often came up really close to the boat and usually did not stay underwater for more than 1 minute.
The weather forecast looks really nice for the next days……fingers crossed that the big feast will continue ;-).
