From easy to difficult to astonishing
Three tours on Garðar and very different ones at that. The morning tour was easy; three Humpback Whales, including two travelling as a duo, at least two small groups of White-beaked Dolphins, and a tiny Harbour Porpoise (perhaps a lost calf) travelling alone. All were seen easily. In the afternoon the animals were spending longer time under the surface so they tested our patience more. But on the evening tour we were lucky to see just one animal but one that performed incredible things for us, numerous vertical lunge-feeds. A Humpback Whale towards the southwest of the bay was feeding aggressively and lunging itself through the water column at a shoal of prey with the result that most of its body was seen and we could get a glimpse into its mouth! Amazing!
