FOUR species in ONE tour!!!
Húsavík is a very famous location for Whale Watching not only because of the beautiful scenery but also because in this bay we’re able to observe many different cetacean species. However, we always tell our passengers at the beginning of a tour that although different species visit us troughout the season, it is pretty unlikely to see many of them in one trip. But not today! On our trips both in the morning and in the afternoon we were lucky enough to encounter four different species! There are still some humpback whales in the bay and we had the chance to get some very close looks at them. We headed further west and approached the coastline of the Víknafjöll mountains, where a big feeding party took place: Inbetween a large flock of feeding birds several minke whales surfaced. In the same area we spotted some harbor porpoises, the smallest whale species we observe here in the bay. And last but not least a group of white beaked dolphins joined the meeting and started circling around our boat. So who cares about rain and cold temperatures? We didn’t!!!
