Ideal whale watching weather
For the last couple of days the weather here in Húsavík has been extremely good, ideal whale watching weather, clear sky and calm sea. Is it winter already? It sure doesn’t look like it.
It has been nice to see how many foreign visitors are still here in Iceland. The tourist season is obviously extending along with the whale watching season. We have got people from all over the world joing us, including people from Canada, Germany, France, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Sweden, USA, UK and Japan.
Though the whale watching season is almost over, we are still being lucky to be able to enjoy the presence of the whales here in Skjálfandi Bay. Like birds, whales travel southwards during winter time to follow the warmer temperature. Maybe that’s the reason why they are still here, because of the good weather which has been here for the past month.
In our last tours we have been seeing Humpback whales, Minke whales and a playful big group of Harbour porpoise. It’s nice to see that the bay is still full of life.
In November we have on our schedule one tour per day, at 11 o’ clock. The last chance this year to go whale watching is next Sunday, 30th of November. If you are in the neighborhood, our phone is always open for a reservation or further information (354) 464-7272
