Minke Whales in southerly winds
On both our tours today we saw two minke whales:
During the morning tour at 10:00 we were treated to a very special sight: We saw two minke whales surfacing side by side, next to each other, several times and both individuals seemed to be rather big. We could also clearly see the blow from these minke whales and got some nice and close up looks at them before we continued to search for more…..
In the afternoon the wind had picked up but despite the strong wind from the south we were able to spot two minke whales: One in the western part of the bay, close to the area where we encountered the minke whale couple this morning, and the other one on the way back to Húsavík, just a few minutes in front of the harbour.
So even though it was a bit windy, it was a successful whale watching tour ;-).
