A humpback in the wind…..
It has been really windy here in Húsavík today and yesterday, but as the wind is blowing from the south (from the land) it is not a big problem for us as there are no high waves in the bay…..it is just windy ;-).
The southerly windy usually also bring warm temperatures and that is the reason why we have had up to 20°C here lately. Also the last little patch of snow on Húsavíkurfjall (the mountain of Húsavík) is gone now.
And the good thing is: Our tours were also really successful today! We enjoyed the company of a very calm and relaxed humpback whale on both the 10:00 and the 13:30 tour today, which always surfaced about 10-12 times before it went down for another dive for about 6-7 minutes.
We got to see the whale very close to the boat several times (especially on the 13:30 tour we got some amazing looks), so despite the strong wind from the south it has been a very successful whale watching day today :-).
