North Sailing donates to charity
The Icelandic Chess Association, Hrókurinn, has arranged a collection of shoes and clothes for children in Ittoqqortoormiit, the most secluded village in Greenland. This effort has been well received in Iceland and donations been made from various places, including Húsavík. In fact, it has been more successful than originally expected so more villages in East-Greenland will benefit from the collection.
In the last eight years the Chess Association has organized Easter feasts for young people in Ittoqqortoormiit and supported them in any way they can.
The project’s patron is Ms. Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, former president of Iceland.

North Sailing gladly supports this project by sending boxes of clothes and shoes free of charge to Constable Point, the airport closest to the village. The first cargo was delivered on 3 September. Ittoqqortoormiit is one of the places that North Sailing visits on its renowned sailing tours in Scoresbysund Greenland and the villagers have become good friends of crew and passengers. It is therefore with great pleasure that North Sailing shows its appreciation for their hospitality to the people of Ittoqqortoormiit.
