Whales and sunshine!

No need for the warm and cozy overalls that we provide today– the sun was shining and it was really warm.

We had great success on all of our tours today. We had quite a few Humpback Whales spread around the bay and they all seemed to be relaxed and enjoying the sun. We got two of them really close to the boat- so close that we could see the whole body of the whale under the surface and hear their powerful breath. That is quite amazing if we keep in mind that we are out in the wild and untamed nature.

My favorite part of the day was definitely when we ran into a very curious Minke Whale. The Minkes have been social for the last days and have been coming up close to the boat, kind of checking us out. This one circled around us for about twenty minutes, going under the boat and popping up all around us. For me it was just as fun to see the passengers run around the boat, laughing and looking into the water trying to guess where the Minke was going to come up next.
