Surrounded by dolphins in the evening sun!

When we got up this morning and looked out to Skjálfandi Bay the conditions did not look so good, unfortunately. It was very windy and the sea seemed rough. Because of that we had to cancel some of our first tours in the morning. In the afternoon the wind calmed down and the sun came out and we were able to go out to search for some whales.

That search went well indeed. We ran into a Humpback whale after a little while and that one was not a shy one. It came up often really close to the boat, showing us its fluke- and it even breached once! While we were enjoying the views and sounds of this humpback- but its breath could be heard, thats how close it was- we noticed a big group of dolphins not too far away from us.

The White Beaked Dolphins were in a good mood and it is sure to say that for about 20 minutes we were surrounded by pairs of dolphins. Everywhere we looked there were dolphins coming up, either jumping or swimming under the boat as well as a long with the boat. A fantastic dolphin show with the evening sun shining on us. 🙂
