One humpback but how many dolphins?
In a single tour, we saw 49 dolphins – at least according to our youngest passenger who apparently made a new count each time a dolphin came up to the surface. That‘s one way to look at it.
The way most of us saw it, a school of 5 White-Beaked Dolphins came swimming–and some even jumping–next to the whale watching boat Gardar.
And meanwhile, a Humpback whale breached in the distance! Its splash could be seen a mile away.
The captain headed directly towards that playful whale. But by the time we got closer, the Humpback had left.
The tour reminded us, yet again, of the unpredictability of the wild nature in Skjálfandi Bay.
